Frequently Asked Questions

Basics

Most courses consist of five weekly live sessions on Zoom, each lasting two hours, where you can interact with the lecturer and other participants through video, audio, and chat.

Alongside the live classes, lecturers offer weekly assignments to help you apply what you’ve learned, and they provide personal feedback. You’ll also find suggested readings and PDF presentations.

All sessions are recorded for anyone who can’t join live or wishes to revisit the material later. The recordings and course materials remain accessible in your profile with lifetime access.

First, create an account on www.nodecenter.net. Then choose your preferred course, click “Enrol,” and follow the payment steps. Once the payment is completed, your enrolment is confirmed.

Anyone working in the arts, or interested in curating and exhibition-making. They’re ideal for professionals looking to develop new skills, as well as art and curatorial students, and anyone with a basic understanding of curating, exhibition-making, or arts management.

All studies at Node are in English.

We recommend setting aside about 3 hours per week during the course. This includes the two-hour live session plus roughly one additional hour for optional readings and assignments.

For any questions about the course—such as schedules, class materials, or general information—please contact our course coordinator at courses@nodecenter.org.

If you need technical help during a live session, reach out directly to support@nodecenter.org so we can assist you as quickly as possible.

We recommend setting aside about 3 hours per week during the course. This includes the two-hour live session plus roughly one additional hour for optional readings and assignments.

You’ll use two main platforms: the Node website, where you access all course materials, and Zoom, which we use for live sessions with video, audio, chat, and presentations.

No worries — all classes are recorded. After each live Zoom session, the video will be added to your course page, where you can watch or rewatch it anytime. You’ll have ongoing access to these recordings.

We do encourage joining live when possible, as it’s a great opportunity to interact with the instructor and ask questions in real time.

Assignments are not mandatory, but they’re a great way to learn through practice and get more out of the course. You’ll find a forum section under each weekly session—please use that space to submit your assignments. You can attach any file type except video.

Yes. Most of our courses run again every four months. You can check upcoming dates in the “Courses” section of our website, under “Coming Soon.” There you can add a course to your wishlist and receive a notification as soon as it's scheduled again.

Certificates & Course Completion

Yes. As long as you keep your personal profile on www.nodecenter.net, you will always be able to access your course and all its contents—including recordings and materials—under “My Learning.”

Yes, you can still complete the course by watching the recordings and you will receive your certificate. Please note that after the course end date, you won’t be able to submit assignments or receive feedback from the instructors.

Yes. When you complete the course, you’ll receive a Node Center Certificate. You can find it anytime in your profile under “Certificates.”

Node Center is an independent learning center, not a university, so our certificates are not equivalent to a university degree. However, Node Center is widely recognised in the arts and curatorial field.

We also collaborate with Montserrat College of Art, which allows us to offer university credits for certain courses. For more details, please check the next FAQ section: “University Credits.”

University Credits

If you are a university student currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or undergraduate program, you may be eligible to receive university credits for completing a Node course.

Students from anywhere in the world can apply. Montserrat College of Art—our academic partner—is accredited by NASAD (National Association of Schools of Art and Design) and NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges).

Before enrolling, please check with your home university to ensure they accept credits from accredited U.S. institutions.

Each Node course that is eligible for credits, corresponds to 1 US college credit. Look for the courses with the U symbol to find if the course is eligible for credits.

The fee for the university accreditation is 150 USD and it’s in addition to the regular Node course fee. You will first pay the regular course fee to Node when you enrol in the course and second, the university accreditation fee directly to Montserrat College of Art.

There will be different small assignments set by the Node lecturer every week, during the course period. Proof of active participation in the classes and forum as well as the completion of associated readings will be required.

A final assignment set by the Montserrat College of Art professor will need to be handed within two weeks after course completion. This professor’s assessment will also include your participation during live classes and in the class forum on the course page.

The deadline to enrol in a Node course with college/university credit is one week before the course starts. On the page of each course, you will find the start date.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. A Montserrat professor will follow the live classes to check live participation and cannot do this retrospectively. Since Node Center’s courses are regularly updated and the final assignment will be based on the most current edition of a course, it is not possible to gain credit in retrospect.

For general questions about the Node courses, enrolment and participation please contact us at courses@nodecenter.org.
